Advent is a season of preparation for Christmas. We “prepare” for Christmas in many ways: throwing parties, reliving nostalgic family memories, remembering lost loved ones, the joy of giving, the anxiety of pleasing others, and the flurry of Christmas shopping. But what would it look like to prepare your heart and mind for the greatest wonder of all, for what C.S. Lewis called “the Grand Miracle”?
Unlike other religions, Christianity hinges on a single grand miracle, the incarnation of God in the flesh in the person of Jesus Christ. Take that miracle away and it’s just another religion with minor miracles scattered here and there. Join us each Sunday this Advent as we seek to stir up wonder over the incarnation. Meditating on Jesus as described in the first chapter of John’s Gospel, we will reflect on Christ as:
- Dec 3: The Eternal Word
- Dec 10: Light of Men
- Dec 17: Word Made Flesh
- Friday Dec 22: Advent Celebration Gathering
