The Church Jesus Loves 1 Peter 5:1-5

By Jonathan Dodson

Sing to the Lord in gladness and in sorrow.
Come before him with burdens and blessings.

The Lord knows our needs.
He has made us and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Worship the Lord always
When the Lord gives and the Lord takes away,

Blessed be the name of the Lord.
For your love endures forever;
your faithfulness to all generations.

Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against thee
in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done,
and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
Because of your Son Jesus Christ,
have mercy on us and forgive us;
that we may delight in your will,
and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your Name.

While it is true that we have sinned,
it is a greater truth that we are forgiven,
through God’s mighty grace in Christ Jesus.
To all who humbly seek the mercy of God I say,
in Jesus Christ your sin is forgiven!

Thanks be to God!

Love Jesus and his church.
Walk humbly and enjoy his grace.
And when the chief Shepherd appears,
you will receive an unfading crown of glory.
