Holy Love 1 Peter 1:13-25

By Jonathan Dodson

Lord, come dwell with us.
Deal with our depression, anxiety and fear.
We need you Lord, more than we know.

Lord Christ, receive our praise.
For you lift the darkness, and you are the Light.
In you, we have more than we need!

Come, let us praise the Lord!
For it is good to sing praises to our God;
who fills our mouths with conviction and joy!

Merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you
in thought, word, and deed.
We obscure you with petty hopes
and replace you with lesser things.
We have not set our hope fully on you.
We have not desired to be holy as you are holy.
We have not loved you or longed for your return.
We are truly sorry and repent.
Because of your Son Jesus,
have mercy on us, and forgive us, O Lord.
Cleanse and renew us,
Make us holy as you are holy.
Help us to love one another, sincerely and deeply,
for the glory of your name.
Through Christ our Lord, Amen.

While it is true that we have sinned,
it is a greater truth that we are forgiven
through God’s mighty love in Christ Jesus.
To all who humbly seek the mercy of God I say,
in Jesus Christ your sin is forgiven!

Thanks be to God!

Be holy as your heavenly Father is holy.
Love one another as your Savior has so wonderfully loved you.
And set your hope fully on the grace to be brought
at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
