From Who We are to Who We Will Become Zech. 7 & 8

By Jonathan Dodson

CALL TO WORSHIP
Who has first given to God that He should repay him?
All that is under heaven is his.
Lord, we gather adoring and grateful for all your gifts.
Who has known the mind of the Lord
or who has been his counselor?
Lord, we humbly heed your wisdom.
Who has commanded the morning to rise
or caused the dawn to know its place?
Lord, we kneel before you, for you are great.
Who is like you, O Lord,
majestic in holiness, awesome in deeds?
There is none like you, O Lord.
There is none like you.

CONFESSION & ASSURANCE
All:
Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you.
We have leveraged you for your gifts,
sought a reward so much less than you.
You have not been marvelous in our eyes.
We have not loved our neighbor as ourselves.
We humbly repent and turn back to you.
Because of your Son, Jesus Christ,
forgive us, dwell with us, change us, O Lord;
that we may receive your grace and delight in your ways,
that we would show kindness and mercy to one another,
and seek justice for the oppressed,
through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Reader:
While it is true that we have sinned,
it is a greater truth that we are forgiven
through God’s mighty grace in Christ Jesus.
To all who humbly seek the mercy of God I say,
in Jesus Christ your sin is forgiven!

All:
Thanks be to God!
