Delighting in Creation Gen. 1:28-31

By City Life Church

Pastoral Prayer:

Almighty God, source of our life, we acknowledge you as Creator of all people in your image, of every race, language and way of life.

We thank you for the wonderful diversity of races and cultures in this world. Help us to see each other as you see us: your sons and daughters. And, Father, call us to repentance and forgive us when we do not.

Keep watch over our hearts so that the sin of racism and prejudice will find no home within us. Tear down the walls which divide us, rid us of suspicions towards one another, uproot any hatred in our heart, and free our brothers and sisters of their oppression.

Enrich our lives by ever-widening the circles of fellowship, and show us your presence in those who differ most from us, until our knowledge of your love is made perfect in our love for all your children.

Father, we also ask you comfort the families grieving the loss of their loved ones. Have mercy on them. Shine your goodness upon them, give them peace beyond their understanding, and let them feel the warmth of your arms as their friends, family, and community surround them.

Also, we ask that your Spirit settle any fear that might be growing in our hearts. Remind us of the ever present truth, that you are with us, so that we might serve and love one another boldly and freely.

Lastly, you are the one who sits on the throne judging with righteousness.

We humbly ask you to bless our courts and judges; give them wisdom and understanding, that they may discern the truth, and impartially and rightly administer justice.

Father, show mercy, bring about justice, and establish peace – only you can. All of this we prayer through Jesus Christ your Son, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
