Uganda Mission

A Brief History

Since July of 2009, Austin City Life has been involved with missions in Uganda, Africa. We have taken two summer teams of 4-6 people from our local body and have worked diligently in both rural and urban regions of the country. The focus of these trips has been to provide theological education to indigenous pastors and gospel ministry to street kids and orphans. Our long term goal is to catalyze a movement of gospel-centered churches that plant other churches.

Partnership

Currently we are partnering with a local missionary from Montana. Dan Morris and his family have lived in Kampala, Uganda for the past two years in the Wabigalo slums. He is in the process of planting Sojourn Ministries, a like minded church plant. As a church we have committed to partnering with Dan and the mission God has called him to. Austin City Life want come along side his church to help impact their community.

Our partnership is functioning on two levels. First, we are continuing to use Sojourn ministries as a training grounds for indigenous pastors and leaders. Dan has worked hard to become involved with several groups of influential pastors. We believe that Sojourn ministries has the ability to have a significant impact on several of these pastors. Second, Austin City Life is partnering with Sojourn ministries to help develop a family development program. A significant part of engaging the community is interacting with local families. If we can help Sojourn ministries establish good relationships among many of the families in Wabigalo, we believe this will have a remarkable impact on the ethos of the slum.

Give to Uganda 2011

If you are interested, there are several ways that you can become involved in our mission in Uganda. First, you can pray that God would further our mission with the local pastors in Kampala. Our desire is to see local leaders rise up and lead a movement of gospel-centered churches. Second, you can help support others who are going as a part of our summer team. At the end of July, we will send a team of six missionaries to Uganda. They are currently working through their various networks to raise the necessary fund for our trip. It takes a wealth of resources to send a team to Africa, but we believe that it is necessary to further the mission God has called us to. If you would like to give please make your donation know online via the 'Other' donations box. Thank you for considering being apart of what Austin City Life is doing in Uganda.
